Art Necklace with Klimt Painting Pendant
 
Handmade necklace featuring a pendant with a piece of the Klimt painting from 1907 called "Water Serpents ii." 
 
It is not a simple necklace, randomly strung with some beads. The choices I made for the beads and design of this necklace were very deliberate and took some experimenting. I explain more about this below.
 
I imported this enameled copper pendant from a self representing artisan in the eastern USA.
 
This listing is for one necklace.
Hypoallergenic.
 
Materials:
Enameled copper pendant.
Beads are described below.
Strong clasp, 100% Sterling Silver, slides in and locks in place. 
Necklace length is to be customized: 18" (current length) to 21" long (with added blackened sterling silver chain), plus 3 1/4" pendant. 
 
This necklace comes with a box and a polishing cloth. 
 
About my design of this Necklace:

Definitely one-of-a -kind, this art necklace features a pendant with a section from the Klimt painting "Water Serpents 2."
 
I chose to use many multicoloured tiny beads to mimic the many multicoloured tiny flowers that cover the figures in the painting.
 
Because it is such a sensual painting, I chose beads associated with sensuality.
 
The beads in this necklace associated with sensuality include:
Red... the colour of love and lust. Red Czech glass beads.
Opals... with fire, flash, luxury and passion from the earth.
Lustrous, silky pearls... like luminous skin and silk sheets. Gifts from the sea.
Moonstone... for nighttime pleasures, with hidden flashes of blue.
Amethyst... reminding me of rich purple velvet.
Black onyx and black spinel... like the cover of night.
Multicolored Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver chain and beads for luxury, which in itself is an aphrodisiac.
 
The chain dangles and swag below the pendant ensure that your eye is drawn down to the pendant, however, they represent two things. They represent the delicate swags and chains popular during the Edwardian period when the painting was created. They also represent the freeness of the sensuality in the painting. 

The Painting "Water Serpents ii" :
The original painting depicts nude women entwined and swimming with each other and large different coloured "sea serpents." Klimt was not very subtle about his fascination with the sensuality of women, and sexual symbolism in his paintings. For example, in his famous painting "The Kiss" the blanket encircling the couple is decorated with vertical rectangles on the man's side, and concentric circles on the woman's side.
