The Little Hilltop Co.
Privacy Policy
Updated May 22, 2024
In this policy, “I/me” refers to Heidi Reeves of The Little Hilltop Co., and operating as Hilltop Parent Coaching, Hilltop Parent Courses, Hilltop Childcare Consulting, and The Twinkle Shelf Handmade Jewelry; “Wix/they” refers to the Wix platform and the apps on the Wix platform that were used to build this website; and “we” refers to Wix, the apps and me. Nobody else controls this website. Just me. (And I'm not much of a computer person.)

I follow the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the Canada Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Storing, Using and Sharing Your Payment Information
My business is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides me with the online platform that allows me to offer and sell my services and products to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.
All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by The Little Hilltop Co. adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.

So basically that means the Wix platform, the payment app Stripe, and the credit card companies and/or PayPal share your information when you make a payment so that the payments can work.
Selling Your Information
Under no circumstances would I ever sell your information.
Advertising
I do not and will not have any advertisers advertising themselves on my website. So, there will never be any third-party advertisers collecting your information.

* Just a Side Note from Me about Google and Meta (Facebook/Instagram) *
I don’t understand how Google works or how these computers and phones just seem to know things about all of us. My Facebook feed always seems to have advertisements for websites I just visited or something I was just talking about. But if it happens to you from my website, I did not do it. It probably has something to do with your own settings, but I don’t know anything about it because it is all very complicated.
However! Admittedly I will have to eventually advertise my products and services or else my business will never grow. I will use Google or Facebook to set up ad campaigns for very limited time periods because it is based on how much I want to spend, and I don’t have money. I’m not sure how they actually do it. But it may happen that one day I will advertise with Google and Meta.

Now back to the regular Privacy Policy:
Type of Info Collected
This Website is built on the Wix platform. Wix and the apps used to build this Website collect information, some of which I can see. Behind the scenes on the internet is a wild and crazy place. Big computer-based companies are very powerful, full of computer genius people, and they can see and do a lot of things with background internet information that would blow the rest of us away if the rest of us knew.
"We" receive, collect and store any information, such as your name and e-mail address, that you enter on my Website in the Contact Forms, during payments, or you provide us in any other way. (As stated above, I do not receive your payment information.) In addition, we collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; computer and connection information and purchase history of this Website. I do not pay attention to that stuff (except contact info when I need to contact you.) However, Wix uses a cookie to keep a record of your activity to provide you with personalized website services.

We use software tools to learn about how people use the Website such as to measure visitor session information, including how long it takes the pages to load, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page. I could check this information to make the Website better, more useful, or faster. But mostly I do not pay attention to any of it and just do my own thing.

We also collect the personally identifiable information that you enter on forms or anywhere on my website, including your name, email, and your communications with me, your questions, comments, feedback, reviews, recommendations, and personal profile. The information that you provide will only be used for the reason you intended in good faith.

Wix collects passwords, payment details (including credit card information), but I don’t see any of that.
How It’s Collected
When you conduct a transaction on the Website, as part of the process, Wix uses a cookie to collect personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. Your personal information will only be used for the specific reasons stated in this Privacy Policy.
Communication
I may contact you for reasons that depend on you. For example, to answer your questions by email or phone, to talk about the services you asked about, are interested in or have purchased. You will also get automatic or personal emails to notify you regarding your program, service, course, about your purchases, to send invoices, to send quotes, proposals or information that you need, to remind you of appointments, to ask your opinions through surveys or questionnaires, to send updates about my company, to help you with problems, to resolve a dispute, to collect fees or monies owed, to send jewelry coupons, or as may be otherwise necessary to contact you while you are my client, or to enforce our Contract, User Agreement, applicable laws, and any agreement I may have with you. For these purposes I may contact you via email, telephone, text messages, Facebook or Instagram Messages, and Canada Post.
Cookies
We use cookies on this Website to see how people interact with it, and to monitor its performance. Those cookies don't personally identify you.

Cookies that personally identify you are also kept on your computer for this website to remember your login information and your preferences.

Any third party apps that are on this website, meaning apps that were not made by Wix, will not work if you turn off cookies.
For example, if I had Google Maps on my homepage (I used to) showing the location of my house, it would not be displayed.
If I put on something from Facebook, such as Facebook posts, likes or links, then that would not be displayed. If I put a YouTube video on my site, the video would not be displayed.

I think that goes for the payment app Stripe, too.
By accepting, you agree to our use of such cookies.

Privacy Policy
My Old Policy from 2021
1. Payments and payment information are entirely handled by Stripe and PayPal, both of which are handled exclusively by their own encrypted programs.

2. To Be Clear: Neither the website heidisonhilltop.com or Heidi Reeves (referred to below as Heidi) have access to your Credit Card information, or have anything to do with your Credit Card or PayPal payments, and will never have access to your payment information.

3. On this website, the only information that is collected for Heidi about you that directly identifies you is the information you provide on the forms, if you filled one out (Reach Out form, Contact form, Booking form, Waitlist form), signing up for a service, buying a product, our email exchanges, and whether or not you have paid your invoices.
This information is kept for Heidi to keep track of who has contacted her, who made appointments, who bought something and where to deliver their products, who is on the waitlist, or who has paid. Heidi needs this information or else her records and schedule will be a disaster, and no body would get their products and services! Heidi may contact you personally by phone or email as needed.

4. Heidi might send everyone an update email no more than 4 times per year, but usually 0 times in a year. These emails would be new service updates, quality questionnaires, or a request for a reference.

5. If you choose to use Heidi's services, your records and private information will remain confidential. Information or images that would personally identify you or your child will not be shared. Heidi follows the ECEBC Code of Ethics and takes the privacy of children and families seriously. This is covered in the 9th Principle in the Code:
"We maintain integrity and respect in our professional relationships.
... Implications For Practice... Protect personal or confidential information about children, families and colleagues unless disclosure is required by law."

6. Your information will be deleted or destroyed when it is no longer needed.

7. The Member Pages
a) Your Member Pages are for you alone. Heidi Reeves does not have access to your Member Page, your membership information or your password.
b) Heidi can only see WHO has a member account.
c) All of the information you provide on the website is protected by the Wix privacy policy and the encrypted app plug-ins.
d) Deleting your member account: There does not seem to be an option for you to delete your own account. Therefore, if you no longer wish to use your member account, please contact Heidi, and as you request, she will delete your member account.

8. There are no advertisers on this website. Your information will not be given away or sold. No cookies or information about you are used by the website or third party advertisers on the website for the purpose of third party advertising on or off this website. The exceptions are Google and Facebook which kind of do their own thing with categorizing and tracking services, pages and people. I think you can turnoff their meddling by using your own settings.

9. When you use interactive functions of the website such as booking, the cart, or login Wix leaves a cookie on your computer so that it will remember you and your preferences the next time you use the website. If you do not want the cookie, you can clear your cache.

10. Heidi's on Hilltop website uses an app that tracks how many people view each page of the website. It collects no identifiable information about you at all.

11. You are responsible for checking this Privacy Policy for changes.

12. By using this website, you agree to this privacy policy.
